Supporting the Lymphatic System

in a Holistic way:

“The Toxin Points” in Eastern Medicine

In Eastern Medicine we view the body as landscape, its own unique terrain, its own unique ecosystem.

The needles, the dietary principles, the cupping, etc., are all modalities to help tend to that terrain and support the body living in state of sustainable health.

One of the unique modalities this medicine has to offer is cupping (you can read more about what the cup marks mean here), and one of the things that it can be profoundly helpful for, is supporting the lymphatic system.

Cupping anywhere on the body can influence and help flush the lymph of that local tissue, but there are certain locations that have a more systemic effect of helping the body clear unwanted toxicity.

In the Master Tung school of thought, the area around and lateral to the scapula are often seen as “The Toxin Points”.

This area is usually cupped, and can be very effective in draining toxins located anywhere in the body.

Since this region coincides with areas of concentrated lymph nodes, the cupping has both a cleansing effect, while simultaneously strengthening the immune system.

Cupping in this location can remove toxin build up from pharmaceuticals, drugs, chemicals, food, gas, poison oak, snake bites, etc.

It can also be a helpful place to cup when one is experiencing a UTI, bad breath, etc., due to its potent cleansing actions.

With our current levels of environmental pollutants, chemical exposures, etc., this area is commonly cupped at least once per quarter, to support the lymphatic system staying clean and preventing stagnation building up.
