Summer Reading : Pilates & Chinese Medicine Edition

Summer Reading

Dear Friend,

Hope you are enjoying your summer so far.

I have been on a few fun trips with my family, and am always excited to pick a new book to read while on vacation.

If looking for something to read this summer, I wanted to share a couple of the first books I read when beginning to study movement and Chinese medicine.

This book was one of the initial books my teacher recommended to me on movement. Eric Franklin teaches a lot of great visual imagery that is helpful when unwinding patterns and working on proper mechanics.

After about a year of getting acupuncture when I was living back in Charlottesville, Virginia, I was totally bewildered about how the treatments were helping me. When I asked my acupuncturist if there was something I could read to help me understand what we were doing, this was the book she recommended. So I started here, and quickly fell down the rabbit hole researching and reading everything I could. It was finally when I found some of the academic articles by a future teacher of mine, Heiner Fruehauf, that I decided I wanted to study this medicine.

Lastly, this is a book I am slowly reading through now. It is a compilation of essays and poems exploring our relationship with climate change and our relationship with the natural world at large (a dominant theme within Eastern medicine).

Wishing you a wonderful rest of your summer!
